Rock Garden

Saddle Canyon (west) — This canyon is the drainage west from the saddle of Powell Plateau and the rim. It is a passable route through the Redwall into Tapeats Canyon, but there are several difficult bypasses of falls and chockstones. Getting wet is assured and a short rope is required. See GCLH-I and route notes on the Redwall Descent. My first visit is described in the Circumambulation of Powell.

1990 September - Around Powell with George S. and cohort. A flash flood (story told in GCLH-II) almost washed out our camp at Stina Canyon: day 1.

2017 October - Saddle Canyon and Tapeats Creek to Thunder River and Bill Hall Trail, trip organized by Jeff McGarvin.
